Cataract surgery

Cataract is the loss of transparency of the crystalline lens. The crystalline lens is a transparent lens situated in front of the retina. It has the function of focusing the light rays that reach the eye from the seen objects.

When the crystalline lens becomes cloudy, the sight diminishes.

This pathology is known as “cataract” and its only effective treatment is to remove the crystalline lens and to replace it with an intraocular lens.

Cataract treatment

A group of specialists will evaluate which intraocular lens fits better to your needs (monofocal, toric, multifocal or toric multifocal lenses). All of them include a UV-filter.

It is a brief intervention in which topical anesthesia (eyedrops) is used; it is an outpatient surgery and allows a quick recovery. It is advisable to remove the cataract before the sight diminishes too much.

It should be pointed out that all interventions are performed with a surgical and cardiologic monitoring system.
